Teams of 2-4 people are given the assignment of taking over a newly renovated city hotel. The hotel, which also offers wellness, business and leisure services as well as food and beverage, will be physically portrayed on a board game. A compact documentation package forms the starting point for all considerations to be made by teams in their strategic decision-making. In addition to strategic positioning, other decision-making levels on the board game encompass the areas of management, sales and marketing, human resource management, guest services, and finance and accounting. All business related results are recorded on the balance sheet and income statement on a seasonal basis. Each hotel on the market encounter competitors (other teams) that face the exact same starting conditions and are courting the same guest segments, fighting for the same occupancy rates as well as sales volumes. All of the teams will work according to a preset sequence on which they can base their deliberations and decisions. |
